 Introduction The Division of Head and Neck Surgery was established since 1979. With the accumulated clinical experiences and clinical researches in the past 40 years, our current mission is to provide the best personalized treatment for the patients with head and neck neoplasms. In order to reach this goal, we’ve organized a multi-disciplinary team since 20 years ago with members of head and neck surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, dentists, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, radiation oncologists, diagnostic radiologists, nuclear physicians, and nursing specialists.. |

1. Endoscopic surgery via nostrils for the patients with recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma and other skull base tumors, such as squamous cell carcinoma, olfactory neuroblastoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, etc. The endoscopic management of dura repair in these patients without craniotomy can improve significantly the quality of life for these patients. 2. Robotic (Da Vinci) surgery and endoscopic transoral laser surgery in the patients with pharyngo-laryngeal cancers can preserve the best functions of swallowing and language. 3. In the past ten years, we have found 33 independent risk factors regarding outcomes of oral cavity cancer patients. This is the first database of oral cavity cancers with regards to the risk factors in Taiwan and Asia. With these fundamental data, we may have more confidence to give a tailor-made treatment for oral cancer patients in the future. 4. We’ve been working with the several prestigious medical centers, such as MD Anderson Cancer Center and University of Michigan, for the collaborative studies of head and neck cancers, and we’ve so far published many high-impacted articles to enhance the mechanisms of head and neck carcinogenesis. We also participated the consortium of oral cavity cancer studies with Sloan-Kettering Memorial Hospital, TATA memorial hospital, etc. for several international multi-center institutional clinical trials for targeting biotherapy in oral cancer patients. Through these effort and clinical trials, we wish to improve our care of health and provide the contemporary treatment of choice to our patients.
