Dr. Yu-Ray Chen graduated from the National Taiwan University Medical School in 1972 and did his plastic surgery training at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital under the tutelage of Dr. Samuel Noordhoff. He was a clinical and research fellow with Dr. Ken Salyer and Dr. Ian Munro. He became the Director of the Craniofacial Center until 1997. He then assumed the office of the Superintendent of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital from 1997 to 2003. In September 2006, he became the Chairman of the Chang Gung Steering Committee, which is in charge of six teaching hospitals and institutes with a total of over 10,000 beds and over 1,600 attending physicians.
