Translational Research Imaging Center has been established
for the purpose of preclinical animal imaging research for
new drug development and medicine selection and the further
steps of phase I and II human trial in order to communicate
basic researches with clinical studies. By integration of
brain powers of both basic and clinical talents from Chang
Gung University and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital,
pre-clinical animal trials and early phase clinical trails
image studies are gradually built up to qualify for
international certification standard and make Translational
Research Image Center of Chang Gung Medical System to be the
key research spot in Asia for global new medication and
technology development. Meanwhile, we hope we can share our
experience by holding various kinds of educational programs
and domestic and international symposiums for rooting of
other medical research center and institutes in Taiwan. On
the other hand, through active involvement in international
conferences, cooperation studies and publication of high
level of research results in leading journals, we can
cultivate and recruit more potential talents in basic
research or clinical medicine and make multinational
biomedical and biotechnology companies understand the level
of Taiwanese research in translational imaging and thus
furthermore participation.
According to the purpose of establishment, the Translational
Research Imaging Center of Linkou Chang Gung Memorial
hospital was intended to be accomplished in two stages.
Stage I is the foundation of “early phase human clinical
trial imaging research center” and stage II is the
foundation of “pre-clinical animal imaging study”. The
equipments of early phase human clinical trial imaging
research center including microPET, nanoSPECT/CT, optic
image, microultrasound, facilities for autoradiography,
mutual laboratory and satellite animal rooms.
In order to make Translational Research Imaging Center of
CGMH to be eligible for international certification
standard, we setup a translational research imaging center
committee in the beginning of our establishment. The members
were seated by enthusiastic and acknowledged just principal
investigators. In addition to formulate the working
instruction, regulation and standard operating procedures,
they also regularly evaluate the research progress of each
sub-projects and the helps to solve the problems encountered
during research. We also invite foreign guest professor
every year to assess our Translational Research Imaging
Center by the regulation under FDA, NIH and NCI. Their
opinions will be considered orderly on time and replied to
them in formal paper report.
The previous significant research results are as Follows:
-
Leading the first multicenter (CGMH, TSGH,
NCKU) radiopharmaceutical Tc99m-Trodat (researched and
developed by INER) new drug evaluation and registration
clinical trial in Taiwan.
-
Participating GE-Healthcare’s
multinational, multicenter (University of Pennsylvania of
the United States, University of Munich of Germany and
Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital of Taiwan) phase III
clinical trial of radiopharmaceutical Tc99m-Trodat, it will
be commercially available in Europe.
-
Center of Medicare and Medicaid of the
United States passed the insurance payment for FDG-PET scan
in cervical cancer in 2005, part of the payment data was
from the research result of CGMH Translational Research
Image Center. The prospective study was funded and led by
clinical research department of CGMH, Linkou and it is still
proceeding.
-
Part of Nasopharyngeal cancer 2007 NCCN
clinical practical guidline comes from research result from
Translational Research Image Center in CGMH, Linkou. This
prospective study was funded and led by clinical research
department of CGMH, Linkou, and is still proceeding.
Summarizing the research result of Translational Research
Image Center of CGMH, Linkou, there were 41( SCI)
publications in 2005, 25 of them were published in leading
international journals (SCI>=3) and 52 talks in
international conferences. There were 63 people under age of
50 participating in the research work, among them 52 people
are either PhDs (researcher) or atteneding physicians. There
were 63 SCI publications in 2006, 30 of them were published
in leading international journals and 32 talks in
international conferences. There were 92 people under age of
50 participating in the research work, among them 49 people
are either PhDs (researcher) or atteneding physicians. The
total number of research projects was 94.
