Nuclear medicine is a discipline of medicine
using radio-isotopes for diagnosis and
treatment of diseases.
Nuclear medicine
uses radioactive isotopes (radionuclides) in
the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Nuclear medicine procedures use
pharmaceuticals that have been labeled with
radionuclides (radiopharmaceuticals) to
produce images that reflect biological
processes. The diagnostic tests involve the
formation of an image using a gamma camera.
Imaging may also be referred to as
radionuclide imaging or nuclear scintigraphy.
The commom nuclear diagnostic tests include
Tc-99m MDP whole body bone scan, cardialc
blood pool image, cerebral perfusion scan,
bleeding scan ... and so on.
