The department of Gastroenterology and hepatology is a collaborative practice of gastroenterologists, hepatologists and therapeutic endoscopists dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all types of digestive diseases, from heartburn to acute liver failure. Our multi-disciplinary teams of specialists offer a coordinated patient care in both hospital and clinic settings. Our department is composed of three divisions, division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Therapeutic Endoscopy, and two research centers, Liver Research Center and Therapeutic Endoscopy Center. We also provide a 144-bed ward service and a 10-bed intensive care unit, committed solely to the management of complex digestive diseases.

The Live Research Center is dedicated to applying the latest research findings to diagnose and treat chronic hepatitis. Over the past decades, this center has generated a strong and internationally renowned basic science research in this field. The Therapeutic Endoscopy Center is committed to provide cutting-edge and innovative skills in the burgeoning field of endoscopic therapy. We have the highest volume in the country in most endoscopic procedures related to gastro-intestinal and pancreatico-biliary diseases and excellent outcomes.

Our department is active as a teaching facility for specialty and sub-specialty trainings. We offer bedside teaching for resident physicians in a collaborative program of Internal Medicine. There are regular seminars in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and teaching rounds on case discussion of all types of digestive diseases. Joint conferences with surgeons, radiologists and pathologists are hold weekly. We maintain a highly sought-after fellowship program with four to six trainees per year. We accept applicants who have successfully completed their three-year residency in Internal Medicine.
