History
Our department was inaugurated in December of 1976. It is now located mainly in Linkou Medical Center of Chang Gung Memorial Hospital with more than 40 faculties of different disciplines. Liver Research Center, an affiliated research facility, has been actively involved in the studies of liver diseases since its foundation in 1978.Therapeutic Endoscopy Center was established in 2000 to expand our service to complex pancreatico-biliary diseases. A new facility dedicated to ultrasonography-guided therapy for liver cancer was added in 1990. The department was divided into three divisions, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Therapeutic Endoscopy, in 2011, in recognition of the growing complexity of the digestive diseases and the need of a coordinated multi-disciplinary care in the future.
