Emerging technologies always bring us ethical concerns.

In this book, information technology, genomics,
biotechnologies, synthetic biology, nanotechnology,
personalized medicine, stem cell and regenerative medicine,
neuroscience, robotics, and geoengineering are included as
emerging technologies. However, the world is advancing very
fast so that more and more brand new technologies are
emerging. Therefore, attention to the ethical , societal, and
governance concerns about the emerging technologies always
lags far behind as scientific discovery and technological
innovation proceed at an accelerating pace.

The societal and ethic issues caused by the innovative
technologies go beyond safety and traditional risks. They are
dealing with not only public health threats and environmental
damage, but also privacy, fairness, security, and the
