To apply for an observership or fellowship at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (Taoyuan Branch), please carefully follow the steps below. Ensure that all required documents are submitted at least 3 months before your intended training start date.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Can I apply less than 3 months in advance?

A: No. All materials must be submitted at least 3 months before your intended training start date to allow sufficient processing time.

Q: Will the hospital provide accommodation?

A: Accommodation is available but at your own expense. If needed, please indicate this in your application. In case no hospital lodging is available, you will be informed in advance so that you may arrange external accommodation on your own.

Q: Will a visa be arranged by the hospital?

A: No, applicants must apply for the appropriate visa themselves. However, we will assist with official reporting to the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Q: Will I receive a stipend during my training?

A: No. This is an unpaid observership program. However, eligible long-term trainees (≄1 year) may apply for a scholarship.

Q: How do I apply for the scholarship?

A: The Chang Gung scholarship is available for foreign clinical trainees who plan to stay one year or longer. The application must be submitted by your supervising physician using the official evaluation form (Annex 6), along with the following:

  • Letter of recommendation from your institution
  • Personal statement
  • Clinical training and research plan (max. 1,000 words)
  • At least one published SCI-indexed article
  • Signed agreement and supervisor’s endorsement letter

Q: What are the obligations for scholarship recipients?

A: Ā Recipients must:

  • Submit a training report every 6 months. Excellent submissions may be published in CGMH Journal.
  • Submit an SCI article as first author before program completion. If accepted, provide the acceptance letter and register the article with the hospital system to be eligible for publication reward.
  • Submit a final evaluation form with the assistance of the department secretary.

Q: hat happens if I fail to submit progress reports on time?

A: Reports must be submitted within the specified schedule. Late submissions will not be accepted, and your scholarship will be terminated immediately if obligations are not fulfilled.

Q: Will I be allowed to perform hands-on procedures?

A: This is an observership-only program. No hands-on practice or direct patient care is allowed.
