Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (KCGH)

Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (KCGH) was established on New Year's Day, 1986. We have 2,639 beds and over 6,300 employees. As a medical center and teaching hospital, we are approved by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to have thirty-five clinical departments. We treat more than 7,500 outpatients and 330 emergency patients daily as well as teach and conduct valuable advanced medical research.

KCGH provides interdisciplinary patient-centered healthcare in a caring medical environment. We train healthcare professionals and undertake ground-breaking medical research, fostering talent and sharing resources in well-equipped facilities.

To give back to society, KCGH has extended medical services to rural areas, localizing healthcare there, and offers medical assistance and training internationally when needed. These contributions have a profound and long-lasting impact.

Medicine Without Boundaries

Our medical care without borders efforts have reached Vietnam, Palau, Nepal, Mongolia, the Philippines, Laos, Cambodia, Guatemala, Fiji, and India. In September 2016, we launched the International Medical Service Center to promote communication and medical care deeply rooted in Taiwan while establishing a global presence.

Medical Services for Remote Areas

In 2009, we initiated the 'Improvement Plan for Areas with Insufficient Medical Resources.' We first provided medical services to eight villages in Kaohsiung's Jiaxian and Shanlin districts. In 2014, we expanded traditional Chinese medicine services to Jiaxian District. Starting in 2015, they were expanded to Pingtung County’s Wuluan, Kanding, and Jiuru townships.

Telemedicine for Remote Areas

In November 2018, we started providing telemedicine services for outpatient and emergency unit patients at 18 medical institutions in Taitung, Hualien, Pingtung, and Penghu, reducing their need to travel for advanced care.

Research and Development

Our hospital’s Medical Research and Development Department covers 13,689 square meters and housed our Institute of Biomedical Translational Research, Center for Shockwave Medicine and Tissue Regeneration, Mitochondrial Medicine Research Center, Genomics and Proteomics Core Laboratory, Animal Morphology Identification and Diagnostic Core Laboratory, Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Core Laboratory, Tissue Bank and Human Biobank, and Experimental Animal Center. Our outstanding research achievements include those in liver transplantation, neuroscience, shockwave medicine, mitochondrial medicine, translational medicine, precision medicine, and data science.
