Neurosurgical Anesthesia

Introduction

Since establishment of the division in July 1990, we have been responsible for anesthesia of patients undertaking neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery and colorectal surgery. Moreover, we have been taking obligatory roles in our pain clinic and post operative pain management.

Service & Specialty

Specialties:
1/ The use of EEG, VAEP, EcoG and SSEP for perioperative monitoring of neurosurgery.
2/ To ascertain the safety of spinal surgery with the guide of SSEP or MEP.
3/ The implementation of hypotensive anesthesia to reduce intraoperative blood loss and complications.
4/ Promotion of patient-controlled-analgesia for ensurance of patient satisfaction.
5/ Management of chronic pain with most updated techniques.

Our duties:
1/Aneshesia for neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery and colorectal surgery.
2/Anesthesia for radiological procedures incluing angiography and ESWL.
3/Supportive roles in neurosurgical ICU and ambulatory medicine.
4/PCA team and acute pain management.
5/Chronic pain management and pain clinic.
6/Spinal and epidural analgesia.
7/Electric neurostimulators (transcutaneous electric analgesia, epidural electric stimulation)
8/Peripheral nerve blockade.
9/Local anesthetic sympathetic blockade.
10/Trigger point injection therapy
