Can anyone recommend a few good books on the idea of Statistical Thinking? That is, the reasons or the conceptual application of statistical techniques.

Some of the books recommended on this web site look good. Also look at some of the books available at amazon.com or some of the inexpensive paperback books available at most book stores. I usually find that starting with the simples possible book is the way to go.
