importance of stat in computer sciences

I want to know about the importance of statistics in computer sciences. This is my assignment but i cannot find effective material for it. I am not stat student but computer science student. Will any pretty friend help me or send me a good document/link.

Statistics helps one to summarize data - large quatities of numbers and to draw conclusions from samples about populations. There is nothing unique about computer science as far as these problems are concerned. Any applied science that works with data has more or less the same statistical problems to deal with.
