iq test scores are normally distribution with a mean of 105 and a standard deviation of 12. if your iq is in the 17th percentile. How do you figure out what your iq is?

The formula for a z score is z=(x-x(bar))/sd. After a z is calculated go to http://davidmlane.com/hyperstat/z_table.html and enter a z to "see" the percentile placement. You can work the backwards, so to speak, and arrive at the answer.
