The Science Club has 25 members. In how many ways can
the members of the club select
(a)4 officers consisting of President, Vic Pres., Secretary, & Treasurer?
(b)a committee of 4 members?


-A tourist wants to visit 6 different cities in Ireland.
(a)how many different arrangements of routes are possible?
(b)If one of the routes is selected at random, what is the probability that
it is in alphabetical order?

How about some helpful hints to lead you in the right direction:

First question:
a) This is a permutation of 25 objects taken 4 at a time.
b) This is a combination of 25 objects taken 4 at a time.

Second question:
a) Permutations again
b) If each route is equally likely and only one route is in alphabetical order, then the answer is easily derived using the answer to part a.
