In doing some reading for my Masters in education, I find a reference to a Rasch analysis of some data. What is a Rasch analysis? My web searches are coming up dry.

I am currently doing a course in Testing for ESl and we are covering Rasch right now. What is does is be able the testers to pinpoint a learners ability according to the difficulty of the questions that he/she answers in a test. Given that some questions are more difficult than others the Rasch analysis is able to determine where on the sprectrum the learner is based on the questions he/she gets right or wrong. I hope this answers your question!PS For more info on Rasch go to CH6."Concepts and Procedures in Rasch measurement' McNamara T. (1996) Measuring Second Language Performance Essex UK addison wesley
