Message posted by Seong-Man Kim on October 12, 2000 at 12:00 AM (ET)

What's Pairwise Chi-Square Tests or Ryan's procedure?
When and How it should be used, and What term it is commonly called by?

I am not sure what Ryan's procedure involves, but chi-squared involves testing if a frequency distribution matches a theoretical frequency distribution and using the fact that a binomial distribution can be approximated by a normal distribution.

Ryans procedure is for specific comparison with frequency data. It is the counter part to a Scheffe test for continous data.

Look at 'Handbook of statistical procedures and their computer applications to education and the behavioral sciences' by freed, ryan, and hess , ISBN 0028971477 .
