Regression Analysis
Message posted by Xavier Olave on March 16, 2000 at 12:00 AM (ET)

Please advise if my facts are correct in the following statement regarding regression analysis:
"Regression analysis implies (but does not prove) causality between an independent variable and a dependent variable. Regression analysis is a more powerful tool than correlation analysis because the latter form of analysis implies no causality or dependence. Correlation analysis is merely a tool to measure the type and degree of association between two variables, but it does not determine whether one variable impacts the other variable."

Thank you.

Remove 2nd sentence. Advantage
of a method depends upon use.
