An independant variable is not effected by the other variable. In other words P(A given B)= P(A).
For two variables to be indepentant of each other, is for A to not change when B is introduced.

The inependent variable is the variable which we manipulate as researchers, ex: an apple a day, apple affects the dependent variable - health
