The basic idea of chaos is that a deterministic system described by differential equations can appear to be random. This seems to be related to 'pseudo random numbers' where a deterministic formula generates 'random' numbers. Yesterday's Washington Post had an article of how chaos theory can be used to predict epileptic attacks. There may also be a relationship between chaos theory and random walk time series.
