Decile to Rank?
Message posted by Leo on December 16, 1999 at 12:00 AM (ET)

If a person is in the 3rd
decile, in a group of 42
people, what is that person's
rank?

What formula do you use?

Thanks

The third decile contains ranks 9 to 12. Just imagine the data lined up according to size. The rank goes from 1 to 42 - equal numbers get and average rank - and the deciles divide the data into 10 equal portions.
