lottery probability
Message posted by Doris on December 1, 1999 at 12:00 AM (ET)

If I buy a lottery, the prob. to get the 1st prize is 1/no. of possible combination.

But if I get a lottery ticket on the street and the lottery had result already been condcuted.

Is the probability of getting the 1st prize is 0/5 ? because the ticket either win or loss ?

Am I right? or have other argument ?

As long as you do not know who has the winning ticket nothing has changed. If you know that someone has the winning ticket the probability that another ticket will win is zero.
