Stats for computer science
Message posted by Melonie on September 20, 1999 at 12:00 AM (ET)

I am in a computer science course and have been given what I am sure is any easy statistic. If I have ten possible random numerical outcomes of data, what is the probability that first number will be greater than the rest? Also, what is the probablity that each number in the list will fall in ascending order (reading a list from left to right)? Can you point me in the right direction? I think I have forgotten my stats basics somewhere along the line.

You are dealing with 'order statistics' which is part of non-paramatric statistics.
