the point of post-hoc power analysis

i guess my subject line says it all, could anyone offer a single advantage for performing a post-hoc power analysis? to say that you couldn't reject your null due to low power seems redundant since you obviously had a low p value.....

Power analysis analizes how your test or procedure behaves when various alternative are true. That is, when the hypothesis in not true.
