When performing population comparison studies. What criteria should be taken into consideration when attempting to make apples to apples comparisons. I ask because I am trying to develop a system of comparing different healthcare facilities. Thank You.

Comparison can mean many things. For instance, how would you compare two woman, houses, or cities. Is there a method that applies to all of them.

Here are some ideas for comparison:
1. Organize the data so that a correlation coefficient can be calculated,
2. Plot as a point in n-space and so cluster analysis,
3. Use a partitioning method to separate data into groups that are similar, etc.
