Statistical Confidence Level-Help Please
Message posted by Bob Evans (via 208.246.235.227) on December 19, 2001 at 10:03 PM (ET)

If you test "X" parts and "Y" pass, what level of statistical confidence do you have that at least 50% of the lot would pass? I need to know how to do this calculation generally.
Thanks in advance.

You need sample size, method of sampling and possibly population size to answer this question. See basic books on statistics or quality control. We are talking about 'acceptance sampling', binomial distributions, etc.
