Help for disseration - analysis of nominal data
Message posted by Maria (via 66.50.61.161) on December 13, 2001 at 8:55 AM (ET)

I need to to know if two independent groups are similar by comparing demographic data - gender, age, marital status, employment status, and college class according to college credits completed. What statisitical test do I need to compare the similarity?

Try discriminant analysis. A variance - covariance matrix for each set of data might be helpful or you can do cannonical correlation or just factor analysis for each set of data separately.
To start with you may wish to generate scatter diagrams using the variables two at time for each set of data separately or both set using different symbols.
