Margin of error in a small survey? I need help calculating the margin of error for a survey given to school students. I understand from this site that the margin of error is calculated by dividing 1 by the square root of the number of people in the survey. Is this still true if the number of people surveyed approaches the total population? Example, suppose we poll 400 students out of a student body of 500, would the margin of error still be calculated the same way? Thanks for any help!
