discontinuous data in excel
Message posted by Rebecca Smith (via 195.99.125.204) on August 10, 2001 at 4:14 AM (ET)

Does anybody have experience of discontinuous data (eg possible values are 'positive' 'negative' and 'trace') handling in Excel? Is there a way to use FREQUENCY to count occurrences of each value or do you have to count by hand?

It's easer to use

=COUNTIF(RANGE,">1")
=COUNTIF(RANGE,"<0")

I eventually gave in, called them '1', '2' and '3' and then used 'Histogram'.
