Welcome to Urogynecology and pelvic floor division, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital at Lin-Kao General Hospital.

With aging population, factors in close association with aging in terms of female genitalia, urinary and pelvic floor muscle functional abnormalities have become an increasing problem in the GYN clinics. Although this group of disease is not immediately life threatening, it is not to neglect the fact that they affect not only the patient physiologically, but also psychologically. Our department prospectively established the Division on Urogynecology Specialty in 1996 by having foreseen these trends and expected these problems in the Gynecologic field. We are specialized in dealing with problems related to female genital organs, as well as urinary function and pelvic floor abnormalities. At that time, we were not only the first division tasked on urogynecological problems in Taiwan, but also the first in the world.

In addition, the Division of Urogynecology has achieved many of the first in Taiwan. At 1994, we set up our own Urodynamic study room. At 1995, we introduced micro-invasive Tension-free Vaginal Tape surgery (TVT) for urinary incontinence. At 1996, we have outpatient clinic for Flexible Cystoscopy. At 1999, we integrated the Pelvis Bladder Function Rehabilitation Centre with licensed-trained physical therapists.

Being the one with the longest history in the Urogynecology specialty in Asia, we do play important role in medical education and academic activity, by having with largest quantity and highest quality on medical paper publication at subspecialty related medical journals in Asia. In addition, we are the only one in Asia to provide international fellowship program. In the years past, we have more than ten fellows over countries such as England and many other Asian countries here with us to complete their training.

Lastly, we will continue to put our effort into this field as we have traditionally been known for, but also to actively be involved in new techniques, medical knowledge and development.
