Introduction

Liposuction means that removal of the body regional fat with operative methods.

Indications

  1. The disproportion of regional fat deposition or fat dystrophy over, cheek , chin , neck , upper arm , breast , chest , back , abdomen and waist , buttock , thigh , medial knee or ankle ,etc..
  2. Combining with other operations, including: face lift and mamma-reduction, etc.

The methods

  1. Traditional liposuction.
  2. After the injection of the tumescent solution, included normal saline, epinephrine or the lidocaine, liposuction is performed.
  3. We use ultrasonic wave to help the liquefaction fat, and then perform liposuction.
  4. Keeping negative suction pressure with the special manual syringe applied to small and scattered areas of the fat deposition.

Complications

  1. The appearance is not even , and lax skin.
  2. Skin or nerve damage.
  3. Irregular pigmentation
  4. Infection.
  5. The hematoma or fat necrosis.
  6. Too much body fluid loss or accumulation .
  7. In ultrasonic assisted liposuction, scald burn is possible.
  8. Risks of the anesthesia.

Severe complications

  1. Fat embolism: Large amount liposuction.
  2. The peritoneal penetration: previous abdominal scar areas.

Anesthesia and operation

Local anaesthesia
The time to have an operation is about one or two hours.

  1. Pre-operaitve check-ups: Lung X-ray and blood examinations.
  2. Taking medicines on the same day.
  3. No blood transfusion usually.
  4. Precautions of the narcotic drugs.
  5. Post-operative care .

The past history, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, heart disease, smoking and taking medicine, you must inform and discuss with your doctor. You have to sign the letter of consent of operation, after you have already understood above-mentioned items clearly.
The following situations, we do not propose carrying out this operation

  1. The body parts of liposuction had been done recently.
  2. The poor circulation of operative areas.
  3. The heart or the lung diseases.
  4. The 10 kilograms over the standard weight.

Hospitalization

Two to three days in hospital.
The Day 1: Admission and pre-operative preparations
The Day 2: The operation and post-operative care
The Day 3: Discharge, if good recovery.

The anesthesia and the operation
The operation will be performed under the general anesthesia.
No food and water taking after mid-night before operation day.
Intravenous fluid will be given in the ward.
The operative time is around two to four hours.

Post-operative Precautions

  1. Must wear the elastic and compressive clothing after the operation.
  2. The next day, the patient will experience more swelling and ecchymosis. Generally those symptoms will subside gradually after the fourth day.
  3. The ice packing vs warm packing: Using ice packing of the operative parts with the ice water bag or cold towel in two or three days after the operation to lighten the swelling. The warm packing instead and give a warm compression to improve the swelling one week later.
  4. The maintenance of the normal daily routine with enough resting.
